AJ Lawson Comes Home: A Brampton Skills & Inspiration Day with XEIST
There’s nothing like hometown energy. This past week, XEIST teamed up with Toronto Raptors guard AJ Lawson for his first-ever camp in his hometown of Brampton, Ontario—and the gym was electric.
From the opening huddle to the final high-fives, the day was about more than jump shots and footwork. It was about possibility. AJ poured into the kids with the same determination that took him from Brampton to the NBA, reminding every young athlete that their ceiling is higher than they think—if they’re willing to work for it.
What Went Down
-
Skills & Drills: Ball-handling progression, finishing through contact, shooting reps with proper footwork, and defensive stance work. Simple, repeatable, game-ready.
-
Compete & Communicate: Small-sided games emphasized talking on defense, spacing, and making the extra pass.
-
Q&A with AJ: Honest conversation about discipline, dealing with setbacks, and building confidence the right way—through consistent effort.
AJ’s Message to the Next Generation

AJ kept it real with the campers: you don’t control the outcome—you control your preparation. Show up early. Listen. Be coachable. Stack good days. That’s the blueprint.
He also spoke about community—how Brampton shaped him, and why coming back matters. Seeing someone from your neighborhood make it isn’t just motivating; it’s proof. Proof that the path is real. Proof that you can chase your highest level of potential.
“XEIST Yourself”
At XEIST, we talk about pushing beyond limits—to XEIST yourself. It’s our way of saying: be more than what’s expected. The camp carried that spirit all day long—kids asking questions, helping each other, competing hard, and leaving the floor better than they walked on it.
Why Camps Like This Matter
-
Access: Not every kid gets a front-row seat to pro-level detail. Camps create that bridge.
-
Belief: When a local pro invests in local kids, belief skyrockets.
-
Habits: Reps and routines build confidence. Confidence builds players—and people.
Thank You, Brampton
Huge love to every family that filled the gym, every volunteer who kept things moving, and, of course, AJ Lawson for leading with heart. First camp at home—done. Many more memories to make.

We’re planning more XEIST camps and clinics designed to sharpen skills and fuel that inner drive. Want in on the next one?
